During the construction of the “Stücki Park” shopping centre in northern Basel, the so called village, a 3-storey high installation, was erected beneath other elements. Expomobilia was hired as the general contractor. We were responsible for the complete load-bearing structure in steel/wood elements as well as the walnut wood façade of the “Stücki Village”.
An attractive and versatile meeting place was created, boasting a modern wooden look with shopping and activity offers, restaurants, doctor and dental practices, physio practitioners and coworking spaces. Due to its refit vision, the cube-shaped building in the heart of the old shopping centre, designed by the renowned Diener & Diener architects, was an extraordinary structural engineering project even for our experienced project managers.
expomobilia realised the components of the “Stücki Village” as general contractor under the management of the total contractor S+B Baumanagement AG. We realised this highly complex project in just five months. Stücki Park remained open throughout the entire construction phase. The tight schedule, construction during ongoing operations and the small logistics area for the building materials demanded a great deal of flexibility and innovative thinking.
The assembly of the steel girders weighing up to 3.5 tonnes and the planning and placement of the façade panels with millimetre precision was a challenge. Thanks to the precise execution planning and many years of project management experience, the project team also mastered this task competently. The linked construction with the various trades within the tight schedule is another special feature of the three-storey building construction.
This project shows that Expomobilia can also professionally implement permanent building construction projects.
